Events

I have given talks to teenagers, business leaders, scientists, skeptics, and Statisticians;  over exclusive dinners, in village libraries, and in vast conference halls.

Here’s a keynote speech – Life, Work, and Learning in the Personalised Century:

Here is a TedX talk.

I host or chair in-conversations, panel debates and public events.

Here I am chairing Cory Doctorow for Intelligence Squared.

Chairing Nobel Prize winner Andre Geim at Cog X here.

And chairing a Data Debate at the British Library on Data and Inequality here.

Performance

After a mis-spent youth performing circus, I turned to improvised and stand up comedy, and formed the UK’s first Comedy Science double act with neuroscientist Dr. Helen Pilcher.

Your Days Are Numbered, with Stand Up Mathematician Matt Parker, sold out an Edinburgh Fringe run and toured the UK and Australia.

Brainsex, with new co-star Socrates the rat, also toured the UK and Northern Ireland after an Edinburgh Fringe run. The Lancet gave it a favourable review here, and StoryCog made some awesome filmed inserts to explain the science and cover the many costume changes here.

Take A Risk randomised audience participation, which included an electric shock machine and a marshmallow-eating competition.

I’m currently a lapsed comedian, but never say never again.
